Friday Night Meals and Warming Room- Update

As the power outage continues we will be assessing our normal Friday Night Meals.

We currently have been able to be open to provide a warming room, with hot soup, coffee, tea, water, functional washrooms and yes “hot water”. We had one person drop by yesterday with a container just to get hot water.

Over the last two days we have had a lot of people, including entire families, stop in to get warm and recharge themselves and their devices.

Various card games are available to use with activity books and games for the children.

The community has been outstanding with dropping by with extra food, fruit (thank you Lynne Prentice), a generator “with gas” as certain areas are having problems finding gas.

Terry Carruthers… you have been a rock…. THANK YOU!

The Cobourg Salvation Army Food Bank has donated items that we can use to make soup. Not sure what the soup will be today yet, its always good and HOT!

David Piccini stopped by yesterday and returned later also with some food.

The 3 local firehalls are availble for warming rooms and you are able to shower and recharge your phones. Their number is 905-349-2542. The Keeler Centre in Colborne is also open as a warming centre.

We plan to be open 12-6 today and will advise further times as this ongoing power outage continues.

Will update further as the power outage continues.
