The Single Red Rose in the vase signifies the blood they have shed in sacrifice to ensure the freedom of our country.
The Yellow Ribbon on the vase represents the yellow ribbons worn on the lapels of thousands who demand with unyielding determination a proper accounting of our comrades who are not among us today.
The Place Setting – single, alone, no friends or family to dine with.
The Slice of Lemon – reminds us of the bitter fate of those who did not return.
The Salt – reminds us of the countless fallen tears of the families.
The Glass – is inverted, they cannot toast with us.
The Candle – is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives in our hearts to light the way home to the open arms of a grateful nation.
The Bible – represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from us.
The Chair is empty – they are not here.
